The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, in collaboration with the Emirati Human Resources Development Council (EHRDC) based in Dubai, has introduced an innovative initiative aimed at training 5,000 Emirati students in future technologies over the next five years.
This initiative, WAM reported, is driven by the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, who also serves as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of both the Executive Council of Dubai and the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy.

The program is in alignment with Dubai’s strategic vision to empower Emirati talent with essential skills that will bolster the digital economy, establish the nation as a global frontrunner in innovation and sustainability, and prepare the youth for leadership positions within rapidly evolving technological fields.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasized that the UAE government remains committed to executing the leadership’s directives by investing in local talents and equipping them with the necessary tools and skills to play a pivotal role in shaping the future.

Al Olama also noted that the government’s initiatives and strategies are designed to empower individuals and national talents, providing them with the expertise and knowledge required for meaningful engagement in the comprehensive digital development landscape, with a strong emphasis on innovation and talent cultivation.

Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, chairman of the EHRDC, expressed that the initiative exemplifies the organization’s steadfast commitment to empowering Emirati talent to take on leadership roles in the digital economy. He further noted that these partnerships illustrate the Council’s role in connecting academia and industry, thereby ensuring that the youth acquire the skills and tools necessary to succeed in the technology sector. He indicated that this approach is in line with Dubai’s vision of promoting innovation and achieving sustainable economic growth.
Strengthening partnerships for talent development
As part of the 5000 Digital Talent initiative, the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, along with the EHRDC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen partnerships with technology firms. Additionally, the initiative aims to cultivate talent and provide training for 5,000 students over the next five years, thereby preparing a workforce ready for the future.
Collaborations with leading organizations
The Council has also established MoUs with LinkedIn, SAS, and several universities, including the University of Dubai, Zayed University, and Higher Colleges of Technology. Moreover, these agreements are intended to enhance students’ skills and readiness for professional roles in the technology sector through digital development, specialized training, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences.
Targeting university students
Aimed at third and fourth-year university students, the initiative offers mentorship, practical training, and access to prominent industry partners.
Furthermore, the launch ceremony, which was attended by senior officials, industry leaders, and university students, underscored the strategic significance of these partnerships in shaping the digital future of the UAE.
