The Electronic Travel Authorization scheme will change travel to the UK.
Brace yourselves because the United Kingdom has just dropped some exciting news for GCC and Jordanian citizens. They’re making it a whole lot easier for GCC and Jordanian citizens to travel to the UK.
The UK government has rolled out the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) scheme, which is a game-changer. Under this scheme, eligible applicants can snag themselves a two-year multiple-entry visa for just AED 45.72 (£10). This move is all part of the UK’s master plan to strengthen friendly connections with the GCC countries and Jordan.
It all started back in June 2022, when the UK decided to kick things up a notch and introduced this snazzy thing called the Electronic Visa Waiver (EVW) scheme. This brilliant move was all about the governments of Saudi Arabia and the UK joining forces to strengthen their bond.
After noticing EVW’s success, the UK decided to expand the program. Nationals from Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE would get to experience the same visa-free travel perks as Saudi Arabia was getting.
The all-new ETA scheme will roll out in phases. Qatari nationals will be able to benefit from this system starting in October 2023, while the rest of the GCC countries and Jordan will join in February 2024. And the whole application process takes place online. All you need is a good old internet connection and a photo of yourself. And, you’ll have to answer questions along the way.
This online process is part of the UK government’s grand plan to digitise their borders. It’s all about boosting security and giving you the best customer experience possible. They want you to feel safe and sound while you embark on your UK adventure.
By slashing costs and making visa requirements a walk in the park, the ETA scheme is here to open doors and make UK travel a breeze. So pack your bags and get ready for an amazing trip.
