The airline will connect the capital to 100 destinations across the world.

Saudi Arabia has unveiled a new national airline, Riyadh Air. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz announced the launch of the airline, which connects the capital to more than 100 destinations across the world.

Riyadh Air will operate from the capital, and take advantage of the kingdom’s location. The airline will have routes spanning Africa, Asia and Europe. Upon completion, it will transform the city into a travel hub and destination for transportation, trade and tourism.

While Riyadh Air aims to be a world-class airline, it will have Saudi Arabian hospitality at its heart. The brand will operate an advanced fleet of aircrafts, which are equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology. Plus, it has set out to meet the highest sustainability and safety standards.

The creation of Riyadh Air is all part of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the kingdom’s economy and generate new revenue streams. The airline is expected to add $20 billion to the economy, and create more than 200,000 jobs.

Riyadh Air is owned by Public Investment Fund. The airline is chaired by His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Governor of PIF, and the Chief Executive Officer is Tony Douglas. Plus, senior management will include Saudi and international employees.

PIF also recently unveiled plans for the King Salman International Airport masterplan, which aims to be one of the world’s largest airports. The site covers 57 square kilometres, features six runways, and aims to accommodate 120 million travellers by 2030.
