Microsoft showcased its latest Data and AI solutions at ADIPEC 2024, which aim to empower energy companies both regionally and globally in their pursuit of a net-zero future. The company’s exhibition booth, WAM reported, includes a dedicated Surface Zone and demo arena, allowing attendees to explore Microsoft’s innovative solutions designed to assist organizations in the UAE and beyond in achieving their operational and environmental objectives.
Innovations in Dynamics 365 and sustainability solutions
Among the highlights are new and forthcoming Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions that enhance frontline productivity, a comprehensive suite of sustainability solutions that help organizations track, report, and minimize their environmental impact, and Microsoft Copilot for Security, which enables security teams to protect sensitive information effectively. Additionally, Microsoft is collaborating with 11 partners at the booth to present their latest energy solutions under the theme “Accelerate the Energy Transition with Data and AI.”
Transformative technologies for energy
Naim Yazbeck, general manager, Microsoft UAE, emphasized the company’s commitment to aiding the energy sector in its transition towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. He stated that their presence at ADIPEC 2024 demonstrates their ongoing dedication to fostering collaboration, innovation, and the adoption of transformative technologies that they believe will shape the energy landscape for generations. He added that their extensive suite of Data and AI solutions for the global energy sector empowers businesses to make informed decisions that enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Participation in the AI Pavilion
This year, Microsoft is also participating as the official AI Partner at the inaugural AI Pavilion, which features leading enterprises worldwide showcasing groundbreaking AI innovations that are reshaping industries. As part of its commitment to advancing global sustainability objectives, Microsoft is highlighting an AI-driven Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) platform designed to curb emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as cement and steel manufacturing. In partnership with Accenture and Avanade, the company is also presenting a comprehensive methane emissions monitoring and remediation solution.
Enhancing workforce safety and connectivity
To further its mission of empowering the global energy workforce, Microsoft, in collaboration with LAB25, is demonstrating how RealWear technology integrated with Azure OpenAI Service enhances safety and connectivity for frontline workers, thereby improving their situational awareness and decision-making skills. Additionally, in partnership with Cognite, Microsoft is showcasing an autonomous robotic dog designed for on-site inspections, illustrating how robotics and AI can work together to bolster safety, identify hazards, and ensure operational continuity in challenging environments.
Collaboration with ADNOC and AI Upskilling initiatives
Along with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Microsoft is highlighting an innovative AI avatar that showcases key insights from the recently released ADNOC, Masdar, and Microsoft AI report titled “Powering Possible: AI and Energy for a Sustainable Future.” To support energy professionals at all levels, Microsoft is also hosting an AI Upskilling Lab at the AI Pavilion in collaboration with its learning partner, Sulava.
Sheikh Khaled discusses areas of cooperation with Vice Chair of Microsoft
On Monday, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, met with Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft. The discussion, which took place at the Abu Dhabi Energy Center on the sidelines of the ENACT Majlis—gathering over 80 leaders from the global energy, technology, and investment sectors—focused on leveraging opportunities for strategic partnerships among companies and institutions engaged in the AI, energy, and climate sectors.
Sheikh Khaled’s meeting with Smith underscored the ongoing strategic cooperation among ADNOC, Masdar, G42, and Microsoft. This collaboration aims to harness advanced AI technologies and solutions to address rapid global changes, drive transformation in the energy sector, and implement low-carbon energy solutions that support the essential infrastructure of the AI ecosystem.

Moreover, Sheikh Khaled and Smith examined the strategic collaboration among Microsoft, ADNOC, and Masdar, which seeks to identify avenues for powering Microsoft’s data centers using renewable energy. This initiative aligns with global sustainability efforts and carbon reduction goals, reflecting the commitment of all three entities to advancing clean energy solutions and reinforcing the UAE and Abu Dhabi’s leadership in green technology and sustainable energy initiatives.
