In a significant move to boost tourism, the Jeddah Historic District Program (JHD) and Cruise Saudi have formalized a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which aims to support the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and accommodate the increasing number of international cruise visitors who enjoy exploring the authentic sites of the historic district.

One of the Jeddah Historic District Program and Cruise Saudi’s vital goals is preserving the area’s distinctive cultural identity and historical landmarks while stimulating local economic growth. Therefore, this collaboration aims to encourage local entrepreneurship, investment, and private-sector innovation to enhance the visitor experience. Moreover, it seeks to boost job creation, foster small businesses and promote sustainable economic growth.

Commenting on the agreement, Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Issa, director general of the Jeddah Historic District Program, stated: “Our strategic partnership with Cruise Saudi is not only to drive economic growth but also to actively engage in the regeneration of the district.”

Al-Issa reiterated the program’s commitment to protecting both the tangible and intangible heritage that earned the district its UNESCO status. “This partnership is pivotal in the strategic regeneration and sustainability of the district,” he added.
