GITEX GLOBAL, a five-day gathering that is being hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is expected to impact the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy.From October 14th to 18th, the global tech community will converge on Dubai for the 44th edition of GITEX GLOBAL, the world’s largest technology and startup event.
With more than 6,500 companies, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from over 180 countries set to participate, the event aims to cement the UAE’s role as a leader in AI innovation.
The event centers on the global AI economy, with Fortune Business Insights forecasting the AI market to hit $621 billion in 2024 and expand to $2.7 trillion by 2032, according to Investing.com.
In his keynote address, Leo Chen, Corporate Senior Vice President and President of Enterprise Sales at Huawei, highlighted AI and 5G-A as key next-generation technologies powering the fourth industrial revolution, which promises to boost productivity significantly. He also noted that this shift presents challenges in infrastructure, industrial applications, and talent ecosystems. Chen emphasized Huawei’s commitment to leveraging its strengths to support customers and partners in thriving during this intelligent era.
GITEX GLOBAL 2024 features exhibitions from some of the world’s largest technology enterprises alongside governments, venture capitalists, researchers, and academia—all under the theme of “Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy.”
“We’re seeing a nearly 40 per cent increase in international participation this year, reflecting the ambitions of young digital nations that are eager to make their mark on the global AI economy,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of the Dubai World Trade Centre. “Through GITEX, we aim to propel the next generation of AI-driven technologies strategically.”
Prominent organizations from Abu Dhabi, such as the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) and G42, are poised to enhance the UAE’s rising status as a global AI leader.
The event will also showcase innovations from international tech giants like Amazon Web Services, Google, Huawei, and Microsoft, spanning 38 halls at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
