What is Cardano?
Founded by Charles Hoskinson and managed by the Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) organization, Cardano is a Layer 1 blockchain which aims to provide a secure and scalable infrastructure for dApps and smart contracts.
Cardano utilizes a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism called Ouroboros, with aims to be more energy-efficient and scalable compared to traditional proof-of-work systems.
The platform is divided into layers, with the settlement layer responsible for handling $ADA, the native cryptocurrency of Cardano, and facilitating peer-to-peer transactions.
Why does this matter for Cardano?
This partnership seeks to advance Cardano’s asset tokenization capabilities – allowing real-world assets to be represented as digital tokens – and looks to help facilitate seamless transactions on various platforms. NMKR has created over 2.4 million NFTs so far, processing $66 million in transactions, and has been a pioneer of real-world asset tokenization on the Cardano blockchain.
