Bitcoiners Urge Elon Musk to Use BTC to Push Back Against Trump

by ccadm

The Bitcoin community is encouraging Tesla CEO Elon Musk to dive deep into Bitcoin as a way to stand up to US President Donald Trump during their ongoing public disagreement. Tesla did take Bitcoin for payments back in 2021 but stopped because of worries about the environment. Despite stopping Bitcoin payments, Tesla still owns some digital assets, but their value decreased from $1.076 billion to $951 million in the first quarter of this year.

Bitcoin fans think Musk going big on Bitcoin could be a bold move against Trump. Mow argued Bitcoin could “force a hard money standard on the money printers” and warned Musk to act “before they freeze your fiat assets.”

On June 6, 2025, a crypto trader named Will Clemente posted on X, saying Musk could fight back by fully supporting Bitcoin. Likewise, Samson Mow, the head of a company called JAN3, also posted on X, pushing Musk to have Tesla accept Bitcoin as payment again and hold a bunch of it as part of its financial strategy.

Three months after Trump’s Strategic Bitcoin Reserve executive order, the US has not increased its Bitcoin purchases, putting it at risk of falling behind other nations.

Speculation is rife that if Musk, known for bold moves, went “BTC maxi,” the impact would be massive. Lomob CEO Boyd Cohen predicted Musk could amass the largest Bitcoin treasury, accept it across his businesses, and join global leaders in promoting it as a path to freedom.

The Musk-Trump clash intensified after Musk, a former Trump adviser, left the role and on June 3 called a tax bill a “disgusting abomination.” On June 5, both exchanged barbs online, with Musk warning Trump’s tariff plan could spark a recession in late 2025 and Trump threatening to cut Musk’s government subsidies and contracts to save billions. Meanwhile, Musk announced on June 2 that X is launching “Bitcoin-style encryption” for its new XChats feature.
