Abu Dhabi launches strategic U.S. tour to expand healthcare collaboration

The delegation will visit key innovation hubs in Boston, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, coinciding with Abu Dhabi’s participation in the BIO International Convention 2025

A high-level delegation led by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) will embark on a strategic mission to the United States from June 14 to 21, 2025, underscoring Abu Dhabi’s global leadership in healthcare innovation.

The mission aligns with the emirate’s long-term vision to transform healthcare through innovation, strategic investment, and international collaboration.

The delegation will visit key innovation hubs in Boston, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, coinciding with Abu Dhabi’s participation in the BIO International Convention 2025 — one of the world’s largest and most influential biotechnology gatherings.

A leader in digital healthcare

The mission will highlight Abu Dhabi’s pioneering work in AI, digital health, genomics, and clinical research, while also showcasing the HELM Life Science Cluster (Health, Endurance, Longevity, and Medicine) to foster long-term strategic alliances with U.S. government bodies, research institutions, and global health innovators.

Advancing knowledge exchange and opportunities

The delegation will hold over 20 strategic meetings with leaders across the public and private sectors in the U.S., aimed at advancing knowledge exchange, unlocking investment opportunities, and formalizing agreements that support the deployment of advanced healthcare solutions.

Representing Abu Dhabi’s broader innovation ecosystem, the delegation includes major stakeholders such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Mubadala BIO, M42, Masdar City, KEZAD, PureHealth, and Etihad Cargo.

Abu Dhabi is already leading regional advancements in genomics through the Emirati Genome Program, which has successfully sequenced over 800,000 samples, establishing one of the most comprehensive national genomic databases globally.

The emirate is also home to more than 90 licensed research centers and over 30 active clinical trials in fields such as oncology, rare diseases, and chronic conditions.

Data-driven platforms such as Malaffi, which securely store medical records for over 5 million patients, enable AI-powered insights and generate real-world clinical evidence to improve care.

Additionally, national initiatives like the Golden Visa program are helping to attract and retain global talent, with over 2,000 long-term visas granted to researchers and healthcare professionals from around the world.

This U.S. mission is a pivotal step in reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s commitment to becoming a global hub for precision medicine, life sciences, and healthcare innovation, while building bridges that drive health outcomes on a global scale.
