G42, based in Abu Dhabi, announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft through a US$1.5 billion investment by the tech giant into the UAE-based artificial intelligence technology holding company.

This collaboration aims to enhance cooperation between the two entities, bringing the latest Microsoft AI technologies and skilling initiatives to the UAE and global markets.

Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft will join the G42 Board of Directors as part of this expanded partnership.

The alliance will enable organizations worldwide to leverage AI and cloud technologies while adhering to leading safety and security standards.

Microsoft’s investment deepens the existing collaboration with G42, with plans to run AI applications and services on Microsoft Azure and deliver advanced AI solutions to global public sector clients and large enterprises. Together, they will extend advanced AI and digital infrastructure to countries in the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa.

His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of G42, emphasizes the strategic significance of Microsoft’s investment in G42, fostering greater cooperation and synergy globally.

The partnership also focuses on developing a skilled and diverse AI workforce, supported by an investment of AED3.67 billion in a development fund for developers.

Brad Smith highlights the collaboration’s broader impact, aiming to bring AI and digital infrastructure to underserved nations while maintaining high standards of safety and responsibility.

Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, underscores the partnership’s role in advancing AI technologies globally, combining G42’s capabilities with Microsoft’s infrastructure.
