The luxury terminal will deliver your luggage straight to your resort.
Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea megaproject is one of the most exciting developments in the kingdom. The area will be home to regenerative tourism projects, five-star hotels and lush landscapes. If you’re dreaming about visiting, you won’t have to wait long, as Red Sea International Airport is scheduled to open this summer.
According to reports by Arabian Business, Red Sea International Airport will start serving domestic travellers this year and international travellers next year. The airport is being designed by the British architectural firm, Foster + Partners. The structure has been inspired by the desert, oasis and sea, and will feel like a private, personalised terminal.
Red Sea International Airport will include a planted garden, a resort-like atmosphere and roof shells that provide shade. The airport will also be home to five departure suites, which are arranged as a series of pods.
Red Sea International Airport aims to provide a smooth travel experience. So, there’ll be no having to wait by the baggage claim area, as luggage will be delivered straight to your hotel room. Plus, the airport will be powered by renewable energy.
If you’re wondering where to stay, Six Senses Southern Dunes is already accepting bookings, and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve and The St. Regis Red Sea Resort will open before the end of the year.
The Red Sea Project is expected to cover 28,000 kilometres of islands, beaches, deserts, mountains and even volcanos and be a leading destination for eco-luxury. The plan is to have no waste-to-landfill or single-use plastic, and be 100 per cent carbon neutral.
